Abenaki Tower

This is the view from the top of Abeanki Tower in Tuftonboro, NH. Originally built in 1924, the original tower fell into disrepair and was rebuilt in 1978. Although stories abound as to its original purpose, it was not a fire tower, nor was it for spotting Nazi aircraft in WWII. It was built specifically to overlook the Ossipee  Range and Lake Winnipesaukee. Although it was not leaf-peeping season when the photos were taken, it is easy to imagine what a spectacular spot this will be in late September. It’s a short hike in from the parking area, about 1/3 mile and the view is worth every step! Abenaki Tower will be celebrating its centennial in 2024, so look for upcoming events throughout the next year.
