Dock at Passamaquoddy bay in Campobello Island
The last week in August, fall colors were starting to show up on Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Canada, just across the bridge from Lubec, Maine. The views of Passamaquoddy Bay were spectacular as you can see below from both the sunset picture and the fishing boat returning to dock, shortly after dawn.
Passamaquoddy Bay, like the neighboring Bay of Fundy has some incredible changes in tides. A sign at Head Harbor Lighthouse, which is accessible by foot at low tide,

cautions sightseers that the tide changes at a rate of five feet per hour! It is worth the scramble over the slippery rocks and steep stairs to go out to the lighthouse. We could hear the whales calling in the distance.
Campobello, is a great fall destination. The locals welcome tourists, the seafood is wonderful, the exchange rate is favorable for U.S. tourists, and you can take a tour of the Roosevelt’s summer retreat at Roosevelt Campobello International Park. The island is full of breathtaking views and history.
